update for 2011, there is more volcanic activity in iceland as from 21st may 2011, the biggest volcano in iceland called Grimsvotn, erupted sending a 12 mile high ash cloud up into the sky.

this is a important news story because if you remember just one year ago, the last eruption in iceland closed or grounded air traffic worldwide, and went on for quite sometime, and it seems to be happening all over again this year! nearly one year later.

it was strange as this volcano eruption happened on the day that a american preacher called Harold Camping predicted a christian rapture and judgement day for the 21st of may 2011, but that did not seem to happen but the biggest volcano in iceland has gone up with another one of those massive ash clouds, that cause so much travel chaos, just like last year.

so i thought i would update this post with any new news, so far it is the 22nd of may 2011 and airports in iceland have all been closed due to the ash cloud from the Grimsvotn eruption, this is the biggest and most active volcano in iceland, and so if you are travelling by airplane you will need to keep a eye on how this story develops on the news.

there are cloud style faces in the iceland volcanic ash cloud, similar to what you can see with the old saying "faces in clouds", a lot of people put this down to people seeing what they want to see, but if you watch the video footage of the icelandic ash cloud you can sometimes see little faces and big faces in the icelandic ash cloud.

some would call these demonic faces or demons faces in the ash cloud etc, but basically it is like looking into regular clouds in the sky in a way and looking for shapes and faces.

also of note is the thunder and lighting that is going off around the iceland volcano eruption.

the icelandic farmer near the volcano eruption on the news said it is the sound of the volcano that worries him "like demons growling".

current news update about the icelandic volcano in hvolsvollur, looks like the iceland volcano has got worse again just as it seemed like the volcano was cooling down, so there will probably be some new ash clouds back in the sky.

so the flight restrictions could continue if the volcano as scientists have said today monday that the volcano is still quite strong, it was though that the volcano is cooling down and travel restrictions would start being lifted tuesday.

but now some scientists are saying that the volcano is still quite strong and creating big ash clouds that can still impact on air travel.

it looks like a lot more news will be known by tuesday on exactly what is happening regarding the reopening of british and european airspace, and how the volcano is reacting.

some current news updates on the iceland volcano eruption and resulting ash cloud, i think the jury is definitely out over the flight restrictions that where imposed following the icelandic volcano eruption, and the resulting ash cloud which caused european and especially uk governments to suspend air travel.

it was probably a over reaction that could or may have been better handled without a complete shut down of uk airspace the travel chaos caused by stopping flight too and from uk airports was probably a slight over reaction to the icelandic volcano ash cloud.

a more balanced response to the iceland volcano ash cloud would of been to just close airports nearest to the ash cloud but keep some airports open, that way air travel would not of needed complete shut down.

now it looks like air travel will be getting back to normal with airports predicted to be getting back open on tuesday and usually service starting to get back to be resumed, as the iceland volcano is activity is said to be slowing down and thus the ash cloud it created should start subsiding.

looks like a lot of uk airports are to be set to reopen on tuesday following the complete shutdown from the volcanic eruptions in iceland and its resulting ash cloud causing major air ports shutdown.

the ash cloud from iceland is now diminishing and looking to be less of a threat for air travel, so tuesday should start to see a end to the airport closures or air flight closures should be coming to a end.

was there a government over reaction to the iceland volcanic eruption ash cloud, probably so really, with millions if not billions of revenue lost for the air travel industry, then test planes went up, even british airlines flew through the icelandic volcano ash in the north atlantic and it seems the british airways plane suffered no real ill effects.
